Enugu based Model; Mellissa Simon who has won several awards earlier last year has finally joined the list of celebrities calling on the President Jonathan to resign.
The Model in an open letter to Mr. President suggested that the issue of crises in the country has passed the level of praying adding that action should be taken.
According to the open letter, I know a lot of people especially the selfish ones will rise to defend the president, they will pour insults on me but I don't care. This is not a time for tribalism. Am an Igbo and I supported Jonathan. I was among the people who wanted our own brother to be in seat but right now am disappointed. If my brother can't handle situations he should quit. The model said. Read the full latter below.
I don't care about what will happen to me after I send this out to the president and general public. I have heard the saying freedom of speech you have but freedom after speech I can't assure you. I don't assure my freedom after this letter.
Sometimes I sit and wonder if our leaders have no heart, tears has been in my eyes and on that of Nigerian's. My heart bleeds. I can't even sleep at night because of nightmares. Who know what will happen tomorrow, the abducted girls could have been me or my sisters. I could have been the victim of any of the bomb blast but thank God am not. Thank God am alive, then I think our duty as the living includes to bring justice for the dead.
Ever since Jonathan became the president of Nigeria a lot of innocent blood has been shed. Then I recall that during his campaign he promised us Breath of fresh air but since he was on that seat Nigerians has never breath any fresh air. All we have in our eyes are tears and heartbreak. This people who die everyday are sons, daughters, husbands, wives and even our future leaders, someone who died on any of this occasions might be the person who will bring cure to any of the deadly ailments in the world.
I know a lot of people especially the selfish ones will rise to defend the president, they will pour insults on me but I don't care. This is not a time for tribalism. Am an Igbo and I supported jonathan. I was among the people who wanted our own brother to be in seat but right now am disappointed. If my brother can't handle situations he should quit. He should be real about the baggage he can carry. Let them stop playing this political game of theirs with the life of innocent people. Let me give instances in the bible when Jonah was in the boat trying to flee there was a big storm he knew it was all because of him instead of being selfish he let go of pride and asked he should be thrown into the sea. The moral lesson here is not just for us not to refuse what God asked us to do but not to put others life at risk and instead of being the reason for others sorrows we should quit. Few days ago South korea Prime minister resigned bcos of the death of people in a ferry which was not really his fault. He felt he was not fit for the seat if he cannot do anything to help when the ferry was sinking. Oh! That man I admire a lot. A typical Nigerian will see him as a failure and coward for resigning but a reasonable man and someone with the heart of gold and the interest of his people at heart will know he is the hero and a strong man to accept his weakness.
Uneasy lies the head that wear the crown. I know being the leader is not easy. I myself can't be there and I will never go there. This is no longer the time for we Nigerians to say let us pray it is a time for action. Prof. Wole Soyinka was right when he said that the gradual drifting of Nigeria towards a religious war may be very devastating for the country but I tell you what is happening today has nothing to do with religion it is a political war but our leaders are trying to use religion to cover it. We Nigerian should stand up and fight not only going to social network to fight. Let us be able to tell this old fags in seat the truth. Hit the nail in the head and stop beating around the bush. PRESIDENT JONATHAN SHOULD RESIGN FOR THE SAKE OF THE POOR MASSES FOR THE SAKE OF THE INNOCENT BLOOD BEING SHED. If u think leaving the seat will make u a coward am sorry to disappoint you being on the seat has done you more harm than good. There is a saying that goes its better to be silent than speaking an confirming ur a fool. Mr president it better you resign than seating and proving to us that your a total failure and can't handle being a leader. This people around you will be the ones to mock you tomorrow. Go to sleep at night and think deep about this how many blood would be shed for your sake. Give power to the people doing this and let us live in peace.
As long as am concern former president Olushegu Obasanjo still remain the only person who can handle the heat of that seat. Pls Nigerians let's speak up and defend ourselves. MELISSA SIMON.
