Mohammed BuhariThe adopted son of General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) has been taken into custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly extorting N20 million under false pretenses.
Mohammed Buhari had reportedly obtained the sum from one Mrs. Florence Nwokocha saying he would invest the money in an oil and gas business, promising generous returns and 30 percent annual interest on the sum.
After receiving the money, Buhari cleaned out the account failing to pay any interest to the woman. He now claims the troubles had started after he lost the bank guarantee which he secured from another new generation bank. The bank, he claims, voided the guarantee on the ground that the branch of the bank that processed it was not competent to do so.
According to Sahara Reporters, the EFCC are still investigating the case.
